A visit to Birmingham Royal Ballet and Elmhurst Ballet School. After a late lunch at the Milano restaurant, we will make our way to Birmingham Hippodrome where BRB’s Development Events Officer Emily Austin has arranged for First Soloist Jonathan Payn to talk with Soloists Lachlan Monaghan and Laura Day about David Bintley’s Hobson’s Choice, in which Lachlan was dancing the Principal role Will Mossop. Members may remember that Australian Lachlan was an Association Royal Ballet School Award winner in 2010. Following the talk, the group will watch a performance of the ballet.
The next morning, after a late breakfast, members will be transported to Elmhurst Ballet School where they will be welcomed by our President, the School’s Artistic Director, Robert Parker. In the morning, we will watch the senior girls’ class and after an excellent lunch, watch rehearsals for the School’s Annual performance, featuring extracts of Sleeping Beauty.
