At the Annual Awards of the Positano Premia La Danza “Léonide Massine” on Saturday 5th September 2020, the Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to our Founder Patron and former Royal Ballet Director Sir Anthony Dowell. One of the other award winners during the evening was Royal Ballet Principal Marcelino Sambé. Unfortunately, because of Covid, there was no gala this year, with most recipients accepting their awards on film. The only dance film during the ceremony was a Para Alicia, performed by Viengsay Valdés, Director of Ballet Nacional de Cuba, who won the award in the category of best dancer in the international scene. This formed part of Positano’s tribute to Alicia Alonso.
