You will have been saddened to hear of the death of former Royal Ballet Principal Anne Heaton in May 2020, aged 89. Born in Rawalpindi in 1930, Anne trained at Sadler’s Wells Ballet School before joining the Theatre Ballet in 1946. In 1946 she moved to Covent Garden and was later promoted to Principal. She created roles in Kenneth MacMillan’s The Burrowand The Invitation,and performed most of the romantic repertoire. She left the Company in 1959 due to a foot injury and arthritis, though returned for guest performances until 1962. For many years she taught at Arts Educational School.
The Bolshoi have announced the death of former star Nikolai Fadeyechev at the age of 87.
From the 18th June 2020, students in Years 10 and 12 who were currently in the UK were invited to take part in day sessions at White Lodge to be taught in small groups for a day of artistic and fitness classes. The School has also led on a choreographic project with six international ballet schools and choreographer Didi Veldman to explore the theme of physical restriction. During the holidays the School will be offering its Summer Intensive Programme online.
