On 1 September 2021, we were very pleased to welcome the Royal Ballet’s Calvin Richardson as our guest soon after his promotion to First Soloist. Australian dancer Calvin turned to ballet aged 14 after an initial interest in tap and musical theatre.
After becoming a finalist of the 2012 Prix de Lausanne he was awarded a full scholarship to The Royal Ballet Upper School and graduated into the Company in 2014. His roles across the Company include Albert de Belleroche in Strapless, the Mad Hatter and Gardener in Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, Peter in the Judas Tree and Evans in Woolf Works.
He has created roles in Crystal Pite’s Flight Pattern, Wayne McGregor’s Multiverse, Obsidian Tear and Yugen and Hofesh Shechter’s Untouchable. Calvin also has a strong interest in choreography and was asked to create his own rendition of The Dying Swan in his graduate year, which he has performed all over the world.
His other works include Good People in the Erik Bruhn Prize, Intractable for a gala in Melbourne, various works for Draft Works and a short piece for Lauren Cuthbertson. In the coming season, his performances include The Dante Project and Romeo and Juliet with Mayara Magri.
On 22 September 2021, it gives us great pleasure to welcome as our guest recently promoted Principal Anna Rose O’Sullivan. Born in Harrow, Anna Rose trained locally before joining The Royal Ballet School.
In 2010 she reached the finals of the Genée and in 2011 won the Young British Dancer of the Year. Whilst at school she performed as Cosette in Les Miserables and in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang in the West End.
