    Ballet Association Award

    Nicola Marchionni

We are delighted to announce that 2020's Association Award at Elmhurst Ballet School has been given to Italian Nicola Marchionni. As our annual visit to the School had to be cancelled, our President and the School’s Artistic Director Robert Parker will present to award to Nicola on our behalf.

Nicola started dancing in a little salsa cafe in a very small town in the centre of Italy at the age of 7. As he progressed, he achieved important titles at various competitions in Italy and around the world. He fell in love with the fascinating art of ballet at the late age of 14 with the help of his first teacher Hannah Francis. His dream was to become like his idol, Carlos Acosta.

He was seen at the IDTA dance competition in Manchester by Lei Zhao (former teacher at Elmhurst Ballet School and former dancer at Birmingham Royal Ballet). He won the gold medal for two consecutive years and got offered a place at Elmhurst. He recently performed at the magnificent stage of the “Prix de Lausanne” and got noticed by many directors for the future after completing his training.

“I am extremely grateful to have been awarded this prize and I would like to say thank you to all the members of the staff at Elmhurst Ballet School and to all the members of the Ballet Association. It means a lot to me to share all the things I learn to an audience and I hope that what I try to express through movements can be perceived from the people who see me. Thank you everyone.” - Nicola
